How to Create and Animate an Umbrella Using Mosplines in Cinema 4D

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can find a very handy use for the often ignored Cinema 4D Mospline object. In this instance, we’ll use Mospline to create and animate an umbrella! First I’ll set up our umbrella using a few Mosplines and a Loft Object. Next, we’ll animate our umbrella using a Pose Morph tag. If you’re not familiar with Pose Morph, be sure to check out my tutorial on how powerful it is (http://www.eyedesyn.com/tutorials/using-the-pose-morph-tag-to-morph-between-objects-in-cinema-4d/)! Finally, I’ll show off some fun options inside Mosplines like the ability to have Mosplines be affected by particle forces like Turbulence and Wind.

If you have any questions, be sure to post it in the comments section and if you create anything cool using this technique, be sure to share it with me! Thanks for watching!

How to Melt Objects Using the Jiggle Deformer in Cinema 4D

In this tutorial I’m going to show you how you can quickly and easily create melting like effects using the Jiggle Deformer. We’ll start by modeling the lollipop, then we’ll move onto using Weight/Vertex Maps to define which parts of our lollipop geometry we want to melt. Next, we’ll use a Pose Morph tag to be able to animate our drips via animating the Vertex Maps. We’ll finish the tutorial off by texturing our lollipop to make it look like tasty candy! Yum!

If you have any questions be sure to post it in the comments section and if you create any drippy candy action, be sure to share it with me! Thanks for watching!

How to Apply Cartoon Line Art Outlines to 3D Objects in Cinema 4D Lite

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can apply cartoonish outlines to your 3D objects in Cinema 4D Lite (or any version of Cinema 4D for that matter).  Using a model from my new Sketch & Toon Model Pack v.3 (http://www.eyedesyn.com/product/sketch-and-toon-model-pack-03/), I’ll show you how you can use a combination of Displacement, Luminance, and Fresnel to turn your 3D model into a piece of stylized, sketchy 2D line art.  Paired with my previous tutorial on how to Achieve 2D Cel Shading in Cinema 4D Lite (http://www.eyedesyn.com/tutorials/achieving-2d-cel-shading-in-cinema-4d-without-sketch-toon/), you can do a pretty convincing job of creating Sketch & Toon 2D line art out of your 3D models!  And doing this all with a version of Cinema 4D that comes FREE with your Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.  Pretty dang cool huh?  As always, experimenting with this technique is encouraged to see what sort of interesting compositions you can come up with!  Play with the different Fresnel Shader Render modes, I’ve found success & interesting results with Front and Back, Back Trans, and Front Only.

If you have any questions, be sure to post it in the comments section and if you create anything cool using this technique, be sure to share it with me! Thanks for watching!

First I’ll cover the super easy workflow to turn your 3D compositions into pixelated 8 bit style renders directly in of Cinema 4D without any need to bring into Photoshop or After Effects. Then, I’ll show you how you can use Sketch & Toon to create Nintendo style 8 bit looks devoid of 3D shading. Finally, I’ll show you the workflow Adobe Creative Cloud users can follow utilizing Cinema 4D Lite and After Effects. Happy pixelating!

How to Bend or Deform Extruded Shapes in Cinema 4D

In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to bend or deform extruded shapes in Cinema 4D. If you ever tried to deform an extruded spline before you’ll experience some odd issues with the geometry not deforming as you’d like it to. In this video we’ll talk about why that is and how to change your splines intermediate points and Extrude Object’s Cap options to be able to achieve a nice smooth deformation of your extruded object. Then we’ll go over how to use deformers like the Bend and Wrap deformers to create some interesting abstract art…that kiiiiinda looks like the C4D logo all remixed. As always, experimenting with this technique is encouraged to see what sort of interesting compositions you can come up with!
